"Own the Moment"
Busy week for Students
Two weeks ago our dancers joined with over 5,500 public school students from across NSW at Qudos Bank Arena for the 2017 Schools Spectacular! The show was an incredible display of talent and highlighted the amazing performing arts programs that operate in our public schools. Congratulations to all of our students who were outstanding ambassadors for our school! Cowra High School was well represented with three Featured Dancers.
Nicola Carter was a featured Jazz Dancer in the opening section ‘Feel This Moment’ with Hope Martin-Edgar, Chloe Fricker and Nicola Carter performing in the Featured Tap and Musical theatre section, ‘It’s a Musical’. All three of these students also performed in the State Dance Ensemble section ‘How Does A Moment Last Forever’. Cowra High Schools Combined Dancers performed in the ‘ Beatles Segment’ performing to ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’. Combined dancers were Dylan Gallagher (7), Abbey Smith (7), Amelia Clements(7), Nashwa Bakini (8), Amy Gruessing (8), Zara McKenzie (8), Zoe Budge (8), Kate Rowston (8), Havannah Greening (8), Bella Pangas (9), Brooklyn Warren (9), Ashleigh Saunders (9), Millie Casey (10), Maisie Thompson (10), Brigette Healy (10) and Jemma Pokoney (11). All students have put in a lot of rehearsal time over the past term and a half and the results were magnificent.
A huge thank you must go to Mrs Prue Williams, Mr Douglas Hughes and Mrs Alison Buckley for their efforts not only during Schools Spec week, but throughout the entire year, with creation of Spec auditions, rehearsals, fundraising, bookings and the general organisation required for such a huge event. Thank you also to the parents who supported their children and travelled down to see the performances on the weekend. What an amazing experience for our kids!
Don’t miss the Channel 7 telecast of the Schools Spectacular ‘Own the Moment’ on Saturday 16 December 2017 at 7pm.
