Awards  & PBL Prizes

Congratulations to our wonderful students who were rewarded for their respectful and responsible behaviour at our last PBL Draw for the year.

Congratulations to Mia Ashton for winning the major prize, a Leader Companion 407 Notebook.

We would also like to thank our fantastic sponsors of PBL - Mr Embroidery, Bushmans Boots and All, Subway Cowra, Domino's Pizza Cowra, 131Pizza Cowra, Sportspower, McDonald's Cowra and the Cowra Services Club.  Your support is outstanding and the students really appreciate it.

Our recent assemblies have seen many students receiving Class Awards, Gold Certificates and Service Eagles for their hard efforts.  Check out our photos below!

Principal's Report

We have come to the final Newsletter for 2017 and I think you will see it is crammed with positive events that have happened throughout the term.  I hope you appreciate the revisit of so many wonderful things.  As such, I will keep my report brief, so as not to distract from the important aspects of the Newsletter.

In the same vein, we celebrated our students’ achievements last Friday at our annual Awards Ceremony.  Anyone who attended could not help but to be impressed with so many outstanding achievements throughout the year.  It was fantastic to celebrate academic, sporting, artistic and community success spanning the entire year.  Topped off with fantastic student performances and a plethora of Gold Medallions, the ceremony was a great celebration.  I think anyone who was present will acknowledge Cowra High students can be rightly proud of the great school they attend.  I thank the many staff who made the event so memorable.

With the end of 2017 we bid farewell to three members of staff:

Mr Colin Bray has been relieving as school Counsellor while Ms Natalia Williams has been on Maternity Leave.  In the very short time he has fulfilled this role he has developed strong and positive relationships with the students.  The care and compassion he has displayed has been a huge benefit for the students under his care.  I wish him all the best in his new school.

Miss Jessica Finn will be taking up a position in 2018 in Sydney to be closer to family.  Miss Finn has been a part of the Cowra High team for approximately 18 months.  In the short time she has made herself an expert in organising and coordinating our weekly school sport while delivering engaging PD/H/PE lessons in the classroom.  It has been a pleasure observing Miss Finn grow as a professional and she will be missed by students and staff alike.  I’m sure she will soon become a positive member of her new school and will continue to be a valued teacher.

We also bid farewell to Mr Cameron Donnelly.  Mr Donnelly leaves us to pursue life in Queensland. He has been a member of Cowra High for many years, starting as a beginning teacher and developing into an experienced professional.  Having been the Year Adviser for the current Year 12 since they were in Year 7, the school’s first VET Construction teacher and an outstanding classroom practitioner, Mr Donnelly has become an invaluable part of our teaching team.  I know many students and staff will be very saddened by his departure.  We wish him all the very best in the future and hope he will continue to flourish as a teacher.

I wish everyone a peaceful, safe and restful holiday.

Charles Gauci
