Refugee Week at Northern Bay

June 20 - 26

Refugee week is celebrated every year to celebrate the achievements of Refugee’s and the contributions they make to our society. The Refugee journey is a very difficult one and it is important to note everyone’s journey is different.

This year the Refugee week theme is Unity.  It is about coming together and being united in each others company after the year we have endured with COVID and even now the disruption are still with us.  It is important to remember those who live in terrible situations overseas COVID has been so much worse for those less fortunate than us who live in Australia.

In 2020 there were estimated to be 82.4 million people forcibly displaced this is a record amount of people who can no longer live where they want to due to conflict and persecution.  In 2020 only 34,400 people were resettled in a safe country due to borders being closed across the world due to COVID 19.

Northern Bay College have over 400 students attending the College from a Refugee background and we are proud to welcome each and every one of them and their family to the Northern Bay College Community.

In celebration each campus will hold a special celebration dance assembly which will be posted on Facebook.

First campus was Wexford
