JUNE 2021
During lockdown 4.0 we received a lovely email from a community member providing feedback on one of our students:
“To the principal of Northern Bay, I wanted to reach out because today I came across one of your Tallis students at the Skate Park today.
I was attending the skate park with my 4yo daughter who has cerebral palsy and has some physical challenges as well as having one of her legs in plaster.
Your student was extremely friendly, caring and compassionate with my daughter. He helped her manoeuvre tricky things and demonstrated for her how to climb the ramps by showing her how to hold the rail to support herself. He asked the most lovely questions about why she doesn’t speak much and by the end of their play almost 2 hours he had her giggling and she had a load of fun. He offered to hold her hand when she was scared and would always pick up her scooter when it fell over.
I have not met such an empathetic young man like X, and because he told me which school he went to, I felt compelled to provide feedback on an outstanding community member X was today. The school and his parents should be proud to have such a wonderful student demonstrating such values that he showed today.”
This item was shared on our Facebook page and was met with such positivity for this lovely interaction. These reminders of how considerate our young people are in our wider community reaffirms how wonderful our students really are.

Funding through Active Sports has been advertised - perhaps you could take advantage of this program.
Do your children love sport and getting active? You may be eligible for up to $200 to put towards the cost associated with your child’s sport and active recreation activities.
To be eligible children must be Victorian residents, aged 4 to 18 and named on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, as well as Medicare card.
Additionally, special consideration also applies for children named on their own valid Health Care Card or are residing in Care Services as well as temporary or provisional visa holders, undocumented migrants or international students. Please refer to the Program Guidelines for more information.
The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and active recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each.
Sporting pursuits, swimming lessons and outdoor active recreation programs are examples of eligible activities under the Program.
The Program encourages kids to re-engage or to participate for the first time in new activities by reducing the cost of participation which can be a significant barrier to participation.
The Program is being delivered across four Rounds until 15 April 2022.
Applications for vouchers in Round two of the program open 31 May 2021 and close 9 July 2021.
