Term 2 is (almost) all wrapped up!  This has been a big and challenging term for many of us, not only do the days get shorter and the weather colder, but we have also been challenged by our fourth short lockdown / remote learning period.

During the fourth go of remote learning, our College Health and Wellbeing team were able to run a variety of different digital ‘drop in’s’, and online activities – and it was great to see so many students and families getting involved with what was happening!  From handstand competitions to cooking classes, we certainly tried to keep you engaged while “stuck” at home.  If you missed the Cooking With Mick online cooking lesson, you can tune in here:

As we head into school holidays, it is important to remember a few things to help keep you happy and healthy:

  1. Keep active – it might be cold, but it is important for children, teens and adults alike to keep active.  Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day.
  2. Stay in routine – as tempting as it might be to stay in your pyjamas all day and watch movies, stick to your normal routine.  Set an alarm to wake up, eat at regular times and get to bed at a good time.  This will make it much easier when you have to come back to school in a few weeks.
  3. Reach out – while you won’t be able to reach out to staff at Northern Bay when needing support during the holidays, you can still find plenty of support in the community.  1800MyOPTIONS is a good starting place to find the right support for what you need.  Click the link to find out more:

Funding through Active Sports has been  advertised - perhaps you could take advantage of this program.

Round 2 of the Get Active Kids Voucher Program is NOW OPEN!

Do your children love sport and getting active? You may be eligible for up to $200 to put towards the cost associated with your child’s sport and active recreation activities.

To be eligible children must be Victorian residents, aged 4 to 18 and named on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, as well as Medicare card.

Additionally, special consideration also applies for children named on their own valid Health Care Card or are residing in Care Services as well as temporary or provisional visa holders, undocumented migrants or international students. Please refer to the Program Guidelines for more information.

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and active recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each.

Sporting pursuits, swimming lessons and outdoor active recreation programs are examples of eligible activities under the Program.

The Program encourages kids to re-engage or to participate for the first time in new activities by reducing the cost of participation which can be a significant barrier to participation.

The Program is being delivered across four Rounds until 15 April 2022.

Applications for vouchers in Round two of the program open 31 May 2021 and close 9 July 2021.

We look forward to seeing you all again after a wonderful holiday break!
