Year 10 Connection Day
by Ms Shareen Bottrell, Assistant Principal
On Wednesday 13 May, we held our very first Year 10 Connection Day which was a valuable opportunity for students to pause, reflect, and start thinking about the exciting pathways ahead of them.

A key focus of the day was the Student Individual Pathway Sessions (SIPS), designed to support students as they prepare for the transition into VCE and beyond.
These sessions encouraged students to reflect on their academic progress, learner behaviours, and overall experience of school life, while also helping them consider future study and career directions.
SIPS provided students an opportunity to work with a mentor and have meaningful conversations about their goals, strengths, interests, and aspirations. Importantly, the sessions also aimed to strengthen connections between students and staff mentors in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Throughout the day, students also worked on completing their Career Action Plans and participated in Virtual Work Experience activities, giving them further insight into future pathways and the world of work. These activities encouraged students to think more deeply about the skills, qualities, and experiences needed for different careers and industries. Students explored a range of opportunities and began identifying pathways that align with their personal interests and ambitions.
Overall, the inaugural Year 10 Connection Day was a positive and rewarding experience, helping students feel supported, informed, and empowered as they begin planning for subjects they will undertake in VCE and explore pathway options.
