Group work, creative choices and visual storytelling was on the schedule all week during the Adobe Film Workshop that ran in the library in Week 2, Term 2.
Delivered to all Year 9 students studying Geography and the elective, Power of Pictures, the library was transformed into a creative wonderland when over 140 students upskilled to develop their filming and editing skills and create a one-minute short film.
Students worked in groups on Day 1 to plan and film around the school before editing the footage independently on Day 2 using the editing program, Adobe Express.
Each film focused on the ways that Box Hill High School celebrates diversity and inclusion.
These workshops were provided to students to help them prepare for their upcoming Melbourne City Experience and we look forward to running them again in Semester 2.

At Box Hill High School, we have a very keen and dedicated group of chess players that love to connect with others who share an interest in chess.
At the end of last term, we welcomed Doncaster Secondary College and East Doncaster Secondary College to compete in our termly interschool chess tournament.
This term we are gearing up for our Box Hill High School House chess tournament.
The house chess tournament will allow students to earn House points and work towards winning, the 'House Chess Trophy'.
Students will have the opportunity to be crowned chess champion of each House and winners will be awarded a medal.
The chess tournament is a fabulous day where students play chess, make and reconnect with friends and celebrate their love for this game.
If you are keen and would like to take part, sign up in the library with Ms Pearson.

On Thursday 7 May, the Library offered a masterclass on the best of every genre the library has!
Students got to see curated collections of the best books of 2025 as voted by people on the internet, the most popular books in our collection and a collection of Ms Collin's and Ms Pearson's favourite books.
Students were given a chance to test run their choices from these collections and borrow any treasure they uncovered.
To make our day even sweeter, students were given a personal recommendation based on their borrowing history and homemade caramel slice was served.
Excitingly, many new, fantastic stories were borrowed, and a fabulous time was had by all!
Ther are many ways that student can earn house points in the library. Library Loyalty Cards, Soduko puzzles, the daily Guanlett (word puzzles and guess the flag) and the weekly Murdle Mystery.
Students are welcome into the library at any time throughout the day to access these puzzles where they can collaborate with friends, be challenged, have fun and earn house points and stickers.
The library is so fortunate to welcome guest authors to promote literacy and creative writing. We are counting down the days to welcome Ange Crawford, author of How to Be Normal, a book that was longlisted by the Children’s Book Council Awards for Older Readers and Morris Glietzman, author of the well-known series, Once.
If you are keen to taking part in these workshops, please sign up with Ms Pearson in the library.

At the end of last term, we put a call out for students to sign up to be Shadow Judges for the shortlisted books in the Children’s Book Council Awards. Students are encouraged to read the books and meet to discuss how these books were shortlisted and which book they believe will be crowned, book of the year in August.
If you would like to sign up, please contact Ms Pearson in the library.
