Exciting New VETDSS Opportunities Coming to Nazareth College in 2027

Nazareth College is excited to announce an expanded range of Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) opportunities for 2027, providing students with even more pathways to explore their interests, develop practical skills and prepare for successful careers.

 

VETDSS enables students to complete nationally recognised qualifications while undertaking their senior secondary education. These programs combine classroom learning with hands-on industry experience and can contribute towards the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), while opening pathways to apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE, university, and employment.  Below are just 4 of the new courses being offered. 

 

Certificate III in Community Services  (Dual Qualification)

A Nationally recognised qualification designed for students who are passionate about helping others. This qualification provides a strong foundation for careers in community services, youth work, disability support, aged care, education support and social services. 

 

 

Students develop practical skills while gaining an understanding of how to support individuals and communities.  Through hands on learning experiences, students build confidence working with people from diverse backgrounds and gain insight into the important role community service professional play in supporting wellbeing and improving quality of life.

 

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance

Health care is one of the most in-demand industries in Australia. In this Nationally recognised course you will learn how to support clients and staff in hospitals and other health care settings.

Ideal for students considering a future in healthcare, this course provides valuable experience in health service environments. 

Students develop practical skills used in hospitals and healthcare settings, creating pathways into nursing, allied health, health administration and a range of other health professions.

 

Certificate II in Electrotechnology

The Certificate II in Electrotechnology is an exciting course for students who enjoy practical, hands-on learning and have an interest in electrical systems, engineering, and emerging technologies. The program provides a strong introduction to the electrical industry and equips students with exposure to industry standard tools and practices. 

 

Throughout the course, students will develop skills in electrical safety, the use of hand and power tools, interpreting technical drawings, assembling electrical components, testing electrical circuits, and applying industry-standard work practices. Students will also gain an understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, problem-solving techniques, and teamwork in a trade environment.

This qualification is an excellent pathway into electrical apprenticeships and careers in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work. It also provides a foundation for future opportunities in renewable energy, automation, telecommunications, electronics, engineering, and other related trades.

 

Multi Industry Pathways Program (MIPPS)

Also launching in 2027 is the Multi Industry Pathways Program (MIPP), an exciting 6 months/1 semester initiative designed for students who are still exploring their future trade career direction. MIPPS provides students with the opportunity to experience learning across a range of industries including Plumbing, Electrical and Building & Construction while developing transferable employability skills, workplace knowledge and practical experience.

Through exposure to multiple industry sectors, students can build confidence, make informed career decisions, and discover pathways that align with their interests, strengths and aspirations. The program offers an excellent look into apprenticeships, traineeships, further vocational education, and employment.

 

Certificate II in Financial Services

The Certificate II in Financial Services is a 1 year course and helps students to develop essential money management and financial literacy skills that are valuable in every career and everyday life. Through practical, hands-on learning, students explore key areas such as budgeting, saving, understanding financial products, and making informed financial decisions.

This qualification provides a strong foundation for those interested in pathways within the banking, insurance, accounting, or financial planning sectors or for students simply wanting to build confidence in managing their personal finances.

 

Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation

Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation is a 1 year course that connects students with nature while developing practical skills to assist with operational logistics and delivery of recreational activities in adventure learning centres, camps, and outdoor environments.

 

Through immersive, hands-on experiences, students build capabilities in environmental stewardship, safety management, and fundamental activity techniques under direct supervision. This engaging qualification offers students an exciting program that develops employability skills for roles such as outdoor activity assistant, camp assistant, and equipment maintenance in Australia’s expanding outdoor recreation and adventure tourism industries.
