Director of Sport Update
I am excited to introduce myself as the new Director of Sport at Loreto College Ballarat. It is a privilege to step into this role and to work with such an enthusiastic sporting community. I am very much looking forward to supporting our students as they participate, compete and represent Loreto with pride throughout the year.
In just three short weeks, we have already had some wonderful sporting success to celebrate. Mikala (Year 12) recently claimed victory in the Under 18s 120m race at the Ballarat Gift, a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations also to Eliza (Year 11), who has been selected in the Victorian Country Basketball Representative Team for the second year in a row. She has also been named in the Australian Sapphires squad for the Women's Under-17 World Cup in the Czech Republic after a recent tour in Samoa playing in a 10-day tournament for the Oceania Cup. An outstanding effort and testament to her dedication to basketball.
The Ballarat Associated Schools (BAS) after-school sports competition kicked off this week, with Senior Tennis, Junior and Senior Basketball teams, and Junior and Intermediate Volleyball all underway. We have had an amazing turnout for school sport so far this term, and I would like to thank all students, staff and families who have supported these programs.
This term is shaping up to be a very busy one for Loreto sport. Our rowers will compete in the Head of the Lake Schools Regatta on Sunday 22 February, and it would be wonderful to see Loreto students and families along the lake foreshore, proudly supporting our school on the day. We also look forward to our Respect Cup football match against Sacred Heart College, our Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 4 March, and our Athletics Carnival in Week 8. These events provide fantastic opportunities for students to get involved, build school spirit and represent their House in a positive and respectful way.

BAS Sport Schedule 2026
Ballarat Gift
It was a fantastic weekend at the 2026 Ballarat Gift, with several familiar Loreto faces delivering outstanding performances on the track.
A huge congratulations to Mikala, who claimed first place in the 120m Girls Under 18 Final. Running off 12.25m in the green, Mikala produced an exceptional performance to cross the line in 13.686 seconds.
We were also thrilled to see Halle Martin (Class of 2021) take out the 70m Women’s Final, running off 6.25m and crossing the line at 8.186 seconds.
Adding to the success, Olivia Parnell (Class of 2024) and current Year 12 student Grace represented POD Squad as part of the 200m stable relay, showcasing great teamwork.
We love seeing our students and alumni shine beyond Loreto, pursuing their passions and giving their best.
Congratulations to all involved on a brilliant weekend of racing!
