From the Deputy Principal

A very warm welcome to the 2026 school year
It has been an absolute joy to see our hallways, courtyards, and gardens filled once again with the vibrant energy of our students.
As we begin this year of learning, I would like to extend a special greeting to our new students and families. I, too, am relatively new to the Loreto community. I am deeply conscious of how fortunate we are to be the beneficiaries of the hard work, commitment, and optimism of Mother Gonzaga Barry IBVM. Her spirit is very much alive today; that genuine ‘Loreto welcome’ was palpable on our first morning at the front gates. Seeing our Senate and House Executive leaders welcoming our new Year 7 students from the moment they arrived was truly special.
Last week, I was delighted to attend the Year 12 Retreat and share a snapshot of my leadership journey. I spoke with the students about the many ‘new beginnings’ I have experienced. While change can feel daunting, if we lead with optimism and strive for personal excellence, we can truly embrace Mary Ward’s maxim:
‘Show yourself as you are, and be what you show yourself.’
I look forward to witnessing each of our students take their own confident ‘next step’ forward.
Finally, Term 1 is a busy season filled with assemblies, carnivals, and camps. I look forward to meeting many parents and friends of the College at these upcoming events.
