KIVA - Empowering Global Citizens

KIVA is a non-profit organisation that helps people around the world who need financial support to improve their lives. Through KIVA, people can lend small amounts of money to individuals and families to help them start or grow a business, pay for education, buy farming supplies, or access healthcare.
The money is repaid over time, and it can then be lent to someone else in need. KIVA helps communities by giving people opportunities to become more independent and improve their future.
Our JSC student leaders recently learned about the important work KIVA does and were inspired to make a difference. They came up with the idea of holding a Crazy Hair Day on June 15 to help raise money for KIVA and support people in creating brighter futures for themselves and their families. Students are encouraged to come to school with their craziest hairstyle, and provide a gold coin donation.
At Mackellar Primary School, our vision is 'Empowering Global Citizens.' Supporting KIVA is a wonderful way for our students to put this into action by showing compassion, understanding the needs of others, and recognising how even small acts of kindness can make a positive difference in communities around the world. We look forward to seeing all students get involved in this fun and meaningful whole school event.
