Foundation News
Foundation students have been busy exploring the concept of time through familiar routines and events. Our mathematicians have been learning to name and order the days of the week, you may have even heard our popular ‘Days of the Week’ song at home! Students are also enjoying games like ‘Sit Down Sunday’ to help build their understanding.
As part of our daily calendar routine, students record the day, date and weather, while also counting how many days we have been at school. Building on this, students are learning to sequence events using time language such as first, next and last, helping them to make sense of order in everyday experiences.
Year One News
This week, our Year 1 students are in the middle of an exciting procedure writing unit. They have been learning how to write clear, step-by-step instructions, using sequencing words and precise language to explain their ideas. They have finished their drafts and will be ready to publish at the end of the week!
In Mathematics, we are exploring 2D shapes and their properties. Students have been identifying, describing, and comparing shapes, focusing on features such as sides and corners.
To support our InitiaLit learning, we have also been enjoying a range of fun and creative storybook crafts. These hands-on activities have helped bring stories to life while strengthening our understanding of the texts we read together.
