Cultural Understanding

Our Cultural Understanding School Improvement Team (CUSIT) members have engaged with and educated our school and its community over the last few months to develop new School House names. Each of these names have strong cultural relevance to our community, local areas and Wadawurrung culture.

The Team canvased our school community and consulted with our Koorie Engagement Support Officer (KESO) to determine what the new names would be, taking into consideration their significance to our area.

While the names of our houses are changing, our house colours will remain the same, continuing the sense of identity and pride we already have. 

With great anticipation, we are excited to announce the new School House names for each of our current house colours. 

• Kunuwarra - Red House
• Perridak - Blue House
• Buniya - Green House
• Djirnap - Gold House

Our next Bitesize Lesson provides information about each of the houses, outlining the significance of the animals to Wadawurrung Country. These will be shared with classrooms prior to Athletics Day in Week 9.
