Year Five/Six News

Reading
This week in 5/6 Reading, we have been enjoying continuing to read our class novel, 'Blueback'. Within the novel we have been enjoying the descriptive language, especially noticing the similes and metaphors. We have been learning how authors use these techniques to create vivid imagery and deeper meaning. Students identified examples in texts and experimented with creating their own, helping to strengthen their comprehension and appreciation of descriptive language.
Writing
In Writing, students focused on the publishing process for our narrative pieces. They carefully edited and revised their work, paying attention to spelling, punctuation and presentation. It has been wonderful to see the pride students are taking in producing neat, detailed and well-presented final pieces. We look forward to sharing our finished pieces very soon!
Maths
In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of fractions. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, they have been practising skills such as comparing, adding and representing fractions, building both confidence and accuracy. It has been fantastic to see students' confidence in using fractions soar across the week as their knowledge has grown.
