Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Athletics Day

Students are very excited for our upcoming Athletics Day at Llanberris Recreation Reserve next Friday, 27th March. We look forward to welcoming families and friends to cheer on our athletes and enjoy a strong sense of community throughout the day. Important information has been, and will continue to be, shared with both families and students in the lead-up to the event. Please ensure you have read and understood all arrangements for the day. Thank you for your support in helping this much-loved event run smoothly for everyone involved. A special thank you to Katherine for her meticulous organisation, dedication, and tireless preparation behind the scenes in getting our athletes ready.

School Council

On Monday evening, School Council met for the Annual General Meeting. We extend our sincere thanks to retiring councillors Rod Dean and Ruby Dawson for their commitment and valuable contributions over the years. We warmly welcome new councillors Megan Kraft and Samantha Attwood to the team. We are also pleased to share that Alice Middlemiss has been nominated as School Council President, with Nadia Impey as Vice President. We greatly appreciate the time, dedication, and support of all our School Councillors. Their ongoing commitment plays an important role in strengthening our school community and supporting positive outcomes for all students.

Industrial Stop Work Action

We wish to inform families that the Australian Education Union has advised of a stop work action scheduled for Tuesday, 24th March. This action will impact school operations, and supervision will be limited on the day.  Please know that we are committed to communicating confirmed arrangements with families for this day of action as soon as possible, to support you with making alternative plans, if required.  Our school will continue to follow Department of Education advice and will provide further information regarding arrangements as soon as possible.  Given the disruption, families may wish to begin considering alternative arrangements for their children. We understand that this may present challenges and appreciate your understanding and support during this time.

Kind regards,
