Kinder News - Perridak Group

Perridak Group have had a wonderful start to the year. The children have settled in well to their new environment and routine. Before snack in the mornings, we gather together in the yarning circle. We say the Acknowledgement Of Country and then tune into our senses. The children have noticed the wind blowing, the colour of the sky, a nest in the tree at the back of Kinder and can often hear the school children playing.
In the afternoon we have been engaging in inside play before having lunch. Over the past few sessions we have been reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. On Friday the children engaged in an instructional drawing session on how to draw a butterfly.
On Friday 6th March the Melbourne Museum visited Kinder. The Museum brought along a collection of Dinosaur artifacts. The children were particularly excited to learn that the Triceratops loved to eat pinecones and would swallow rocks to help break them down in its tummy. They had the amazing opportunity to touch a real Muttaburrasaurus skull, compare their size to a dinosaur leg, and explore different fossils—including dinosaur poo, which caused lots of laughter. It was so much fun.
