Food Studies

Art & Design Show Catering

On Wednesday evening the Year 11 Food Studies class was tasked with catering for the art show. This was just the last part of a CAT that we have been working on since last term. It involved various design stages including surveying different people, researching three dishes, choosing and writing a recipe, calculating the amount of ingredients and cost, and making a prototype.

The dishes we made were:

Isabelle – Gluten free cheesecake bites

Adma – Chocolate balls

Mia – Sweet potato and halloumi wraps and portobello mushroom wraps

Ollie – Mini bruschetta bites

Poppy – Pizza rolls

Maddy – Chicken avocado mini wraps

Steph – Crispy tuna rice

Summer – Rice paper rolls

Emily – Brownies with raspberry sauce

In the evening we dressed as waiters and served the canapes to the art show guests. It was very challenging to finish all our cooking in under two hours but we all were successful and I think that we got a glimpse into how difficult being a chef or caterer must be! Overall, it was a fun experience and walking around making conversation with the visitors was very nice.
