Out and About
Year 10 Outdoor Education
As part of the Year10 Outdoor Education program, students participated in the Lorne Surf Camp. This adventure-based program allowed the students to be self-sufficient for three days and two nights, camping at the Lorne Foreshore Caravan Park and cooking their meals on Trangias.
We left MGSC Tuesday and stopped at the Australian National Surf Museum in Torquay on our trip down, discovering the history of surfing and learning about the technological improvements making surfing the activity it is today. We stopped for lunch at the iconic Bells Beach and then headed to Lorne to set up our tents, creating our camp for the next two nights. We explored the Erskin River Rapids, ate ice cream at the local store and celebrated Tess’ Birthday. On Day two, we started the morning with a surf lesson, cooked a hot breakfast and then headed up the mountain to The Live wire Park; tree surfing and looking down at the beautiful forest! Day three started with a cooked breakfast before we began the task of packing up our tents, we stopped by Teddy’s Lookout before heading back to MGSC
This trip developed our resilience, along with our appreciation and gratitude for the comforts we are lucky to have at home. We worked together as a team, cooked amazing meals in our Trangias and had a great time trying new activities. What an experience! Something we will remember forever.
