Congratulations to our latest LC Graduates

Language Centre Graduation

Jillian O'Neill

Our 11 international students, who have come from Vietnam, Korea and China, have now graduated from the Language Centre and joined their mainstream classes. Ranging from Year 7 to10, these students have worked hard to learn the ways of the Australian education system, and specifically Brighton Secondary College.

With a focus on language, these courageous students have studied English, Maths, Science, Health and PE, Foods and Media, completing a range of assessments and building on their skills and knowledge. They have visited the city and the Grand Prix, experienced the wonder of Imax and enjoyed our beautiful Brighton Beach, along with a range of other activities in their classes.

To celebrate their semester, students created a portfolio which they shared with Ms Boyd’s 7S English class, and Ms Bolton’s Year 7 EAL class. There was much chatter and interest as our students worked together, chatting about the LC semester and the experiences they have had. Thank you to the visiting Year 7s for your kindness, compassion and engagement.

Thank you to Ms Bolton, Ms Boyd, Mr Cox, Mr Chen, Ms Doorley, Mr Su, Ms Gu, Ms Carroll and Ms Eeckhoudt for their expertise, patience and guidance during Semester 1. Thank you also to Ms Lawton, Ms Jessica and Ms Sophia for their continued support of these students, and to those in our community who have provided homestay. Thank you to Ms Hill for providing a wonderful venue for our graduation, and to Ms Whiteman, Mr Langham and Mr Chalk for their support, attendance and help with presenting the graduation certificates and gifts. A huge thank you to Mr Rundell for his expert photography, too, to capture this special event.

And finally, a huge congratulations to all our students: Louis, Beatrice, Seojung, Seoyoung, Jesse, Tielle, Mark, Katerina, Otto, Jerry and Rinne, for their bravery, efforts and enthusiasm in coming here to study.
