World Quantum Day Physics Fair
Year 9 STEM Program
On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, the Year 9 STEM students attended Quantum Victoria to take part in the World Quantum Day Physics Fair.
The Physics Fair was an interactive event where students explored the surprising and exciting aspects of physics. They uncovered the “magic” behind fascinating physics phenomena, investigated Newton’s Laws by simulating car crashes using collision trolleys, and experimented with various forms of electricity – from static charges to electromagnets. It was a fun, hands-on way to see physics in action!
As part of their STEM studies, Year 9 students have been exploring the science behind the Grand Prix, including the materials used and the physics of car safety and aerodynamics. This excursion helped consolidate their understanding of Newton’s Laws and provided a foundation for topics they will explore later in the year, such as engineering, flight, and advanced materials.
