Laudato Si' Youth Summit

On Tuesday, 25 August, ten students attended the Laudato Si' Youth Summit at Corpus Christi College. This event was organised by CEWA and brought together students from Catholic schools across the state to explore ways of putting Laudato Si' into action in their own communities.

Throughout the day, students rotated through workshops, choosing three from a selection of four sessions on offer. 

These included WasteSorted Schools, where students learned about waste streams and how to reduce contamination in recycling; a Water Corporation session on water usage and shortages, including how something as simple as a four-minute shower can make a real difference; a session on the ethical use of AI, encouraging students to think through how new technology should be used responsibly; and a Listening to Country session, where students engaged with First Nations perspectives on caring for the land. The key message that stayed with students from this session was that if you take care of Country, it will take care of you.

The day finished with a Words to Action session, where students came together to discuss what they would like to see implemented at Lumen Christi College as a result of what they had learned.

Students enjoyed the day with plenty of enthusiasm evident for bringing what they learned back to our own College.
