English Week

English and CBCA Book Week at Lumen Christi College, held in Week 5, was a vibrant celebration of books and the joy of storytelling. The week kicked off in spectacular style on Monday, with students and staff bringing their favourite book characters to life. 

Congratulations to our student winners: 

• Eyoel as Buzz Lightyear, 
• Esther as Jessie from Toy Story  
• Ella Mae as Jax from the Amazing Digital Circus. 

A special congratulations also goes Teliah, Hadiya, Nazeya, Emily, Anantika, El Betel, Tahreem, Asmaret, Candie and Judith, who teamed up as the crew from Shrek. 

Our Arts learning area claimed the staff prize, transforming themselves into an impressive collection of Greek gods and goddesses, with special mentions to Religious Education (Inside Out), HASS (Alice in Wonderland) and HPE (Men in Black).

Wednesday saw students take on the exciting challenge of Write a Book in a Day. Collaboratively, students planned, wrote, illustrated and published their very own novellas. Beyond developing their writing skills, the challenge encouraged students to think creatively under pressure. It was a wonderful demonstration of the imagination and collaboration that can flourish when students are given the opportunity to create something meaningful.

English Week was a wonderful reminder that reading is not simply about books on a shelf—it is about imagination, connection and the stories we share with others.
