From the Principal

Last week, staff gathered for our annual Staff Faith Day. This year, the focus of the day was the relationship between faith and science. Using our newly refurbished K Block facilities, staff explored lung cells under microscopes, viewed galaxies through virtual reality headsets, investigated the refraction of light and colour, and observed the germination of seeds. These experiences prompted reflection on how themes such as light, growth and breath help us understand both the natural world and our relationship with God.
It was a fitting way to experience a building designed to spark curiosity, inquiry and discovery, and it highlighted the exciting opportunities that K Block provides for our students.
The completion of K Block represents a significant investment in contemporary science education at Lumen Christi College. The redevelopment has transformed an existing College building into a contemporary learning environment featuring contemporary science laboratories and flexible collaboration spaces.
Reflecting our Vision for Learning, K Block is a place where students can Discover Together to: Connect through shared discovery, Explore new ideas and ways of thinking, and be Empowered as learners with agency and curiosity.
A project of this scale relies on the contribution of many people. We sincerely thank our staff, students and families for their patience and flexibility throughout the construction period, and acknowledge the architects, consultants and contractors whose expertise brought the redevelopment to life.
Most importantly, it has been wonderful to see staff and student learning thriving in these spaces. We look forward to the opportunities K Block will create for generations of Lumen students to come.
God Bless,
Karen Prendergast
Principal
