Celebrating Science Week 2026
Last week Lumen Christi College celebrated Science Week embracing the 2026 theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All. Students from Years 7–12 participated in activities to spark curiosity, encourage creativity and celebrate the importance of science in everyday life. Seeds of Science images were displayed in the Discovery Centre throughout the week.
The Seeds of Science Colouring and Design Competition invited students to interpret the theme. Congratulations to our winners Year 7 student Tejal, Year 9 Student Rohan and Year 12 student Abby. Their winning entries are on display this week in K-Block.
Students tested their problem-solving and teamwork skills in the STILE escape room, Breaking Glass News. Classes worked collaboratively to follow scientific clues and solve challenges to complete the activity.
Students also participated in a Science Kahoot Quiz, competing in middle and upper school teams to earn points for their Houses.
Animal Ark visited the College, allowing students to encounter animals and learn about their adaptations and survival.
Science learning also extended beyond the College. Year 12 Human Biology students visited Perth Zoo, while Year 12 Chemistry students attended an excursion to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
A special thank you to our science staff for their support, preparation and commitment throughout the week. We also thank the other College staff who supported activities for all students and encouraged student participation. Their combined efforts helped make Science Week an engaging celebration of curiosity, discovery and scientific thinking.
