Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach this mid point of Term Three, it’s hard to believe where the time goes. The depths of winter have really set in and our environment has been replenished by soaking winter rain.

Episcopal Visitation

His Excellency, The Most Reverend Peter Comonsoli, Archbishop of Melbourne will be spending the day with us at St Joseph’s on Friday 4 September. He will be celebrating Mass, meeting with School and Student Leaders and visiting classrooms. We are also hopeful that he will be present for our Father’s Day Celebrations in the afternoon, giving him an opportunity to meet our Dads and spend some more time with our children.

Archbishop Peter will spend the weekend in the Parish, meeting with Fr Michel, Parish Staff and Parishioners. A Parish Forum will be held on Saturday and our school families are warmly invited to join in this event.  I will confirm the time for this event with you when these details have been confirmed.

On Sunday, St Joseph’s families are invited to attend the Parish Mass followed by a morning tea hosted by the school. Parents are invited to join with the staff in hosting this event and are invited to bring a plate of morning tea to share. Mass begins at 8:30am and morning Tea will be served between 9:30 and 10:30. We are aware that this is Father’s Day and Families will have commitments.  However, we are hopeful that the 8:30am start will still provide an opportunity for families to attend the mass ahead of their Father’s Day Celebrations.

Father’s Day - School Celebrations

On Friday 4 September, Dads and other special people are invited to our Father’s Day Celebrations. This is one of the highlights for the year, made even more special with the likely visit from Archbishop Peter.  

Please see below our plan for the day:

2:30pm: Dads visit children in their classrooms for activities

3:00pm: Dads and children gather in the SPA Centre for a Liturgy

3:15pm: Games in the Spa Centre or on the oval (weather dependent) and Sausage Sizzle.

We hope to see as many of our Dads and other special people as possible joining us for this special event.

We have gone with an afternoon celebration as many of our dads have let us know that it can be really hard to attend morning events due to work commitments

School Budget 2027

Currently, all Catholic schools are working through planning and budgeting activities for 2027 to ensure we are well placed to support our staff, students and school communities in the coming year. This includes looking at how we can accommodate the changes likely to flow from a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) with school staff.

We recognise the significant financial pressures many households are facing, and we are making a conscious effort to ensure these costs are not passed on through significant fee increases.

We will continue to keep our parent community informed throughout this process. As always, our focus remains on maintaining strong school communities and continuing to deliver a high-quality Catholic education for every student.
