Konnichiwa from Japanese class! 

We have been busy learning /revising numbers, colours, body parts and adjectives with Pokémon characters. Celebrating 30 years since Pokémon was created in 1996, Pokémon has not only been an anime and a movie but has also evolved into a game and various marketing series. 

We had a discussion today about activities for Japanese Fun Day with Grades 5 and 6, and we only have two more weeks to prepare. I explained to each class about the costume parade, where you come to school wearing your favourite Japanese-themed costume, such as a Pokémon or other anime character, a Ninja, Sushi, a Sumo Wrestler, Cherry blossom, or soy sauce! You can be very creative! Please come and have a look at the costume parade if you have time for the Japanese Fun Day, which is on the 1st of September this year.

We are also debating what we are going to make this year, Sushi or Gyoza (dumplings).  Usually, Grades 5 and 6 leaders will come to each class to teach how to make those yummy Japanese foods. Let me discuss it further with the leaders next week. This year, we are practising playing Jan ken pon for the junior class and Jan ken pon acchi muite hoi for Grades 3 to 6. Jan ken pon is basically Rock-Scissors-Paper. Jan ken pon acchi muite hoi is Rock - Scissors - Paper with "look that way, hoi" pointing reflex game. It is a great game to do and even better to watch! 

We are going to hold the Kendama Competition again this year, as well as the origami activity. I will announce a final plan in the next newsletter! Start to have a good look at the OP shops and give it some thought, please.
