News from One/Two

Another week done! 

Religion 

This week we learnt about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and why she is so special to Catholics. We learnt that Mary loved and trusted God and said “Yes” to Him, even when things were difficult.

We also learnt about the Feast of the Assumption, which we celebrate on 15 August. This special feast reminds us that Mary was welcomed into God’s presence.

Narrative writing 

This week, we have been developing our narrative writing! We have been learning how to include important elements such as characters, settings, actions, problems and resolutions. Each story was carefully planned before students drafted and completed their final pieces adding in new extra details. We are very proud of the creativity and effort they have put into their writing!

Some of these wonderful narratives will be shared with you at Assembly next week, so stay tuned!

PBL - Kindness 

The highlight of our week was creating these beautiful “Be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” artworks. Each student thought carefully about the qualities they admire and appreciate in their friends and wrote something special about them. It was so lovely to see the happy faces and smiles as everyone read the kind and thoughtful words their classmates had written about them. It was a beautiful reminder of how special it is to make others feel valued and appreciated. 🌈💛

Inquiry

In Inquiry this week, the F/1/2 students created posters about a chosen Farm Animal. WE spent the session learning about Farm Animals and that the majority of them have a purpose to produce something. The F/1/2's researched their chosen animal to learn interesting facts! Great teamwork F/1/2's!

We are excited to announce that we have two Inquiry excursions planned for this term coming up!! 

• A Visit to the Sandersons Farm in Gladysdale (Thursday 27th August) - Students will be getting a bus from School
• Melbourne Aquarium (Thursday 17th September)- Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at Lilydale station
