Positive Behaviours For Learning
This week we investigated the importance of kindness and how we use that to build a strong classroom and school community where everyone feels safe, valued and important. The students made Kindness Booklets which they shared with the Foundation class.
Hoop Time
This year’s Hoop Time Basketball Tournament for Year 5/6 students will be held on Friday, 21 August at the Kilsyth Basketball Stadium.
Hoop time is an optional event. Students who do not wish to participate will remain at school and continue with their normal classes. Please indicate if your child will be attending or not on nForma ASAP.
Students participating in Hoop time will need to be dropped off at and collected from the Kilsyth Basketball Stadium by their parents/carers.

This week we have been working on maths challenges they are pretty easy at first but it gets harder each challenge you do because you get less options of numbers each one you do because we only have 1-9 and you can only use one of each number.
Lily: Math challenges
Ms Urquhart taught us a new math game, and it is the best, trust me on it. Basically, you have to draw 7 boxes, and in those three rows you have to make the number 14 with 0-9 numbers, but you can't use the same number twice
How I feel about it:
It's ok; it's really calming, but sometimes I can make you crash out

Last 5th of August all the 5/6s went to upper yarra to watch a performance thing, at first I was excited to see what it was about.
When it started the girl acting for Alice appeared and to be honest she was one of my favourite characters then throughout the thing humpty dumpty appeared and he was really funny same with this caterpillar guy. The caterpillar was also another favourite because i love its attitude.
I loved the whole performance and the Students did AMAZING acting!
This week we've also done math challenges and for me I would say its quite fun but also a bit tricky and hurts my brain a bit but its really fun and entertaining, it also gets my brain going.
I also like it because its learning but fun so your still learning but in a fun way!.
Something I don't like about it is how I get frustrated because it gets very confusing and hard, but I still love the math games!

HOW I FEEL ABOUT THEM:
They are a good learning practice for open-minded thinking and endless challenges! They are waaaaay better than daily reviews! They are a nice thing to do occasionally before a session of math but some of them can be hard and don't suit everyone! Sometimes they can make some people very stressed.
WHAT I THINK COULD CHANGE:
There should be a range of options whether it comes to different types of math challenges, reading, writing/math problems or even just drawing.
OTHER THAN THAT IT IS GREAT AND GOOD LEARNING EXPERIENCE!

This week we had math challenges. It was fun. You have to solve math challenges. How I feel is ok but I don't like it.
Alice @ Wonderland it was a good show and it was a bit funny when the rabbit started running it was so funny it was cool.
I am going to dress up for book week Matilda for book week like last year it was a good dress for book week.

After play we do math challenges and those math challenges are a bit tricky. But once you do it you get used to it, it’s kind of simple but hard at the same time. On the little chart we draw on our whiteboards there are numbers from 1 to 9 and we have to make the number 14 on every line.
I know what costume i’m going to be but i don’t want to spoil it. And I cant wait though it’s only in two weeks.
And this week on Wednesday we have round robin and I can not wait!

We have been doing Math Challenges-yeah i do really like them cause there is a fun game before math and it's a good warm up. Last week we went to upper yarra secondary college to watch a show called alice @ wonderland. My favorite part in the show was when Alice chased the bunny guy. It was very loud, but it was funny.

This week our class has been doing maths challenges in math, I think they are a bit of fun and I like them. And we also had the ‘Alice @ Wonderland’ play at UYSC. And Book week is coming up, I don't really know what I might go as though.
At the UYSC (Upper Yarra) play, it was called ‘Alice @ wonderland’, and it was like the Alice in Wonderland movie and book I thought it was good but not better than the MLMC play.
