ASX Sharemarket Game

About the Game
With Donald Trump’s fluctuating global tariffs, playing the ASX Sharemarket Game in the first half of 2025 proved a challenge. Despite this, just over 100 Mazenod students actively participated in this semester’s ASX Sharemarket Game.
The ASX Sharemarket Game is a fun and challenging online game that runs for 10 weeks every semester and gives students $50,000 virtual dollars to invest in the Australian stock market. Share prices in the game perfectly mirror what is going on in real life, so it gives students a realistic feel for investing. The aim is to try and grow their $50,000 portfolio over the 10 weeks.
Our Results
Game 1 finished in Week 4, with 65% of Mazenod players successfully making a profit with the average student finishing with $52,000, meaning an average profit of $2,000.
Our top 3 players made most of their money from investing in mining, energy, and gold companies, with Boss Energy being a real money-maker. Special congratulations to Wilson D and Bailey L who finished 5th and 2nd in the state respectively. Our top 3 placed students received gift vouchers from the College for their efforts.
