Mazenod Junior Football Club

After a hectic couple of weekends, the break after  Round 5 was a great chance to recharge. Now we're focused and ready to take on Round 6 this weekend!

Round 5 marked both the Leon Iopollo Medal Round and Volunteer Appreciation Round — a special day to honour dedication, passion, and the spirit of our club.

To our amazing volunteers,

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to say thank you.

Week in, week out, rain or shine, you give your time, your energy, and your passion — not for recognition, but for the love of the game and the spirit of our club. Whether you’re setting up the ground, coaching, goal umpiring or cheering on the sidelines, or doing the countless unseen jobs that keep everything ticking — you make it all possible.

Without you, we simply couldn’t play the game we cherish.

Thank you for everything you do.

Round 5– Leon Ioppolo Medal 🏅

Congratulations to this year’s Leon Ioppolo Medal winner, Julius P! 👏👏👏👏The Leon Ioppolo Medal holds special significance within our club. Leon tragically passed away in 2005 while in Year 12. He was a beloved son of Joanne and Tony Ioppolo, and a cherished brother to Simon and Justine.Leon had a deep love for his family, his friends, and the game of football.

He played his junior footy with the Lesmurdie Saints before joining Mazenod Junior Football Club, where he thrived, playing strong, passionate football alongside his mates. In memory of Leon and his courageous, wholehearted approach to the game, the Ioppolo family — together with the club — established the Leon Ioppolo Medal, awarded each year to the Best on Ground in a match played against a hills team.

The recipient is chosen by members of the Ioppolo family present at the game. In Round 5, our League team faced Kalamunda, and we were honoured to have Joanne, Justine and Life member Gisella Masella join us. After a standout performance, Julius P was selected as this year’s medal recipient. He was presented with a Burley football, and will receive his medal at our Club Presentation Night. Congratulations once again, Julius — a fantastic achievement! 💙🤍🏉
