Boarding News
Dear Boarding Parents and Guardians,
After a refreshing mid-term break, it's great to have the boys back and engaged in the full life of the College and the boarding house. For many, the winter sports season is in full flight! Whether it's hockey, football, basketball or soccer, their enthusiasm on the field and courts is fantastic and a testament to the boys' dedication and passion for their respective sports.
Our Year 11 and 12 boys returned from the midterm break to exams for some and valuable work placement experience for others, and we wish them all success for the weeks ahead.
This weekend, a group of 12 boys will be undertaking part two of their skipper's ticket training. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to develop practical life skills and be part of a challenging and exciting boating programme. We thank the WA Boat School for their assistance and support of the boys.
Earlier this week, I was fortunate to be able to accompany some of the Year 7 boarders to the Mothers and Mentors Afternoon Tea. The boys were great hosts, and it was lovely sharing the event with them. Thank you to those Year 7 mums who were able to attend the afternoon and also to our Year 10 mums who attended the Mothers and Mentors evening with their sons just before the mid-term break.
Congratulations to Riley (Year 12) on his outstanding effort in the HBF Run for a Reason held on May 25th. Riley finished 59th from 14, 500 runners, completing the 12km course in 47 minutes. Riley's commitment to his running has been outstanding - he goes for a run every day, rain, hail or shine!
Ellen Cleeson, a dietician with Chartwells, who manages our catering services, recently presented to the boys on the importance of healthy eating and making intelligent food choices. Ellen’s message was very simple - good eating will impact so many parts of life, including sleep, ability to focus, concentration, mood, performance in sport, and general well-being. We thank Chartwells for providing this valuable session for the boys and staff.
