Student Voice Update

Student Voice teams have been hard at work again this week, ensuring the best for our school.

At the start of this term, Student Voice representatives surveyed students across Brookside to find out what they believed we are doing well and what we can improve on as a school. After collecting all of the data and looking closely at the results, some very clear areas for improvement emerged. Students across multiple year levels told us they would like to see improvements to our toilet environments, less litter around certain areas of the school, and a greater focus on keeping our school grounds a safe and respectful space for every student.

Based on this feedback, Student Voice representatives have chosen Brookside’s environment and cleanliness as our focus for the rest of the school year.

Students have now begun planning and working towards solving the problems identified. By working in groups, we have almost finished planning four different initiatives:

• House-coloured bins
• Student awareness and educational videos
• Posters and murals around the school

• A 10-cent container collection incentive

   

Each group has developed an action plan identifying what we want to accomplish by the end of the semester. These plans include the steps we need to take, what resources are needed, who needs to be involved and how long we will need to complete each initiative.

We have been hard at work this term and hope to have our initiatives completed by the end of the semester.

We look forward to sharing our progress and seeing our students’ ideas make a positive impact on our school.
