 He's only aged 34 but Christian Street (SVC 2004- 2007) finds himself as acting Mayor of the Kingsborough Council.  

 

Christian, a solicitor, became a councillor at the last municipal elections. The long-serving Mayor, Paula Wreidt, resigned in April and was replaced by her deputy, Clare Glade-Wright. Christian became Deputy Mayor.  

 

However, Clare Glade-Wright also resigned on May 11 following her victory in the Legislative Council election for the seat of Huon and thus Christian became Acting Mayor until the state-wide municipal elections scheduled for October.

 

Christian is Principal Solicitor at Ogilvie Jennings where he has worked for the past five years. He was prefect in his final year at St Virgil’s College. Having completed his secondary education at GYC, he attended UTAS from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) & Bachelor of Economics (BEc) in 2014.

 

Whilst at UTAS, he served as Treasurer of the Tasmania University Business Society, Member of the Student Representative Council of Tasmania University Student Association. He also sat as a member of the Academic Misconduct Tribunal, the quasi-judicial body that resolves academic misconduct complaints against students.

 

He served on the GYC Board from 2015-2025.
