PE

It’s been a big week in sport on the LPS calendar! We had four students compete in the Division Cross Country event in Castlemaine last week, with three of them moving on to the regional event in St Arnaud (not down the road!) next week. Congratulations and best wishes to Ollie, Kaylee and Ayla on making it through and a huge pat on the back to Harry for his efforts in getting to the Castlemaine event.
This week we sent two netball teams and a footy team to the COBAW Winter Sports event in Romsey. As always, all of our competitors did both themselves and the school proud by displaying great sportsperson ship and a real love for the game. That’s exactly what we want from our students, to understand that playing sport is about being part of a team and a community of like-minded kids who love having a go!
In PE the Preps are coming back to the basics…throwing, catching kicking, running, jumping and the big one...listening! They’re a brilliant bunch of students and do not lack enthusiasm when it comes to everything we do, especially dancing!
Years 1-2 are moving through their Athletics unit and are absolutely loving relay racing. We are using the whole school oval and have even popped some hurdles in there for good measure. Nothing brings me more joy than watching every student give their best and smile the whole time!
Years 3-6 have finished up with basketball, most of them really seemed to enjoy it with loads asking for basketballs at lunch and recess! We’ve now moved to Athletics, starting with Long Jump and now moving on to Discus and Shot Put.
That’s it from me and the world of sport at LPS! Remember, keep active and keep moving!!
