Principal's Report

Term 2 has been jam packed with learning and activities. Our 3/4 camp to Toolangi was a huge success with all students proudly showing how resilient they truly are! A few farewell nerves quickly disappeared once we were on the bus and arrived at beautiful Toolangi and greeted by the wonderful staff at camp. It was nonstop action with abseiling, crate climb challenge, flying fox, archery and frisbee golf challenge. By the end of camp staff were all experts in harnessing up students and we were grateful to have the expertise of camp staff to support us with the flying and climbing:) Camp always gives students the opportunity to step a little or a lot out of their comfort zones in a safe and supported environment. Our motto for camp is always Challenge by Choice and everyone stepped up and had a fabulous time and at all times displayed fabulous behaviour.

Our SAKG program is in full swing with 1/2J and 3C this term. A big thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and other helpers for your continued support of this very important program. Without your ongoing help the SAKG program would be impossible to run. The benefits of this program for students are countless.

Upcoming Curriculum Days

A reminder that we have two pupil free Curriculum Days coming up in the second half of term 2.

Tuesday 9th of June - staff will be working with our Positive Classroom Management Strategies coach focusing on smooth processes in classrooms, collaborative teacher practice, how to minimise inappropriate and maximise appropriate behaviours in classrooms and how this links to the VTLM 2.0 ( Victorian Teaching and Learning Model) along with revisiting our major and minor behaviour matrix and natural/logical consequences. A big day of work for staff.

Coming up at the end of term 2 we will be conducting Mid-Year Parent/Teacher/Student conferences on Friday 26th of June. This is a Curriculum Day, no students at school.

It is an expectation that students attend these conferences with parents and carers so they can share their successes and goals for semester two. Bookings for the conferences will be live on Compass during week 8 (approx. June 10th), we will keep you undated on weekly reminders.

Semester One Student Reports - Important Information

We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual.

The reports will be available on Compass Wednesday 24th of June.

Your child's semester one report will provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union. Teachers will be pleased to discuss your child’s progress with you at our upcoming parent/teacher/student conferences or, as always, you can contact your child's teacher to arrange a meeting at a mutually suitable time.

Early Departures Procedure

We are working hard to minimise interruptions to teaching and learning and school operations. Here's one way you can assist us with our goal. If your child must depart early during a school day, we request that families allow time to come to the office and sign them out.  Office staff will call through to classrooms for students to be sent to the office once parents/carers have arrived to collect them.

Lunch Orders

A reminder that lunch orders must be placed using Flexischools, orders must not be handed in at the bakery as they will not be accepted.  Orders must be placed online by 10am on Thursdays.  Details regarding Flexischools is provided further on in the newsletter and in previous editions.
