Visual Art

The Art Room is bustling with action this Term, drawing on special days like World Bee Day and Wear it Yellow Day to inspire our artworks.

During the week of Wear it Yellow the Prep – Two students learnt about First Nations art techniques of dot painting and hand printing. They tried out these practices to create some beautiful First Nations inspired artworks. To stick on theme we only used white and yellow paints exploring the importance of yellow to First Nations people.

The Year 3-6 classes followed suit on Wear it Yellow Day and investigated different types of indigenous art, learning that the purpose of First Nations artwork is to tell stories. They then experimented with the idea of X-ray or skeleton artworks using the shape of an animal and then creating patterns and lines inside to represent their bones, muscles and organs. Like the junior students we stuck with the theme of yellow when creating these wonderful artworks.
