At St Mary's, we are committed to supporting the whole child by nurturing healthy bodies, minds and hearts. On Monday of Week Four, we will officially launch our new whole-school behaviour expectations during our Wellbeing Assembly. These shared expectations will provide a consistent approach across every classroom and learning space, helping students know exactly what is expected of them, regardless of which staff member they are working with. This consistency creates a safe, supportive and predictable environment where every child can thrive.

Our commitment to wellbeing extends far beyond the classroom. Students have access to our Breakfast Club, providing fresh and nutritious food to help them start the day ready to learn, as well as a range of lunchtime opportunities including Lego Club, Create and Connect and organised games and activities that encourage friendships, creativity and belonging. Our Friendship Chair helps students connect with others during playtimes, while our Student Representative Council (SRC) gives students a genuine voice in school decisions and initiatives.

Every fortnight, all classes also participate in Respectful Relationships lessons. This evidence-based program teaches students the social and emotional skills needed to build positive relationships, manage emotions, solve problems, communicate respectfully and stand up for themselves and others. These important life skills help create a caring, inclusive and respectful school community where every student feels safe, valued and connected.

Understanding Bullying (July 2026)

SchoolTV Resource: Bullying – What Every Parent Needs to Know

At St Mary's Rushworth, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. Bullying is deliberate, repeated behaviour that causes harm and involves an imbalance of power. It can be physical, verbal, social or online, and is different from everyday conflict or disagreements between children.

This month's SchoolTV resource provides practical advice for parents on recognising the signs of bullying, supporting children to speak up, and working together with the school to build positive relationships and resilience. We encourage all families to take a few minutes to explore this valuable resource.
