 3/4 CLASSROOM

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school. The students have returned calm, happy and excited to be back in the classroom, and it has been lovely hearing all about their holiday adventures. This week has been focused on settling back into our routines while beginning some exciting new learning across all subject areas.

Homework Reminder

Homework will begin next week. Students will receive a homework sheet each Monday based on the spelling rule taught the following week, with homework due the Friday.

Please continue to read with your child each night and record this in their diary. I look forward to celebrating even more students reaching the exciting milestone of 100 nights of reading this term.

Learning Highlights

In English, we have begun our new class novel, Storm Boy, which the students are already enjoying. We have explored vocabulary from the text and started writing an information report about the Coorong. In Spelling, students have been learning about contractions and how they are used in both reading and writing.

In Maths, we have started our new unit on addition and subtraction, exploring a range of efficient problem-solving strategies. In RE, we have begun our new unit, Known, Loved and Called: Choosing Jesus, with students reflecting on their identity by creating collages that celebrate what makes them unique.

Our new Inquiry unit, Earth's Resources, has introduced students to natural resources, with a scavenger hunt around the school helping them identify examples in our environment. In Art, students were introduced to the work of Pete Cromer and created painted backgrounds for their Australian animal artworks. In Sport, we have begun preparing for Athletics, focusing on developing our sprinting skills.
