F/1/2 CLASSROOM

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break. It has been wonderful to welcome the students back to school this week for term 3. They have settled into classroom routines beautifully and returned with positive attitudes, ready to learn.

This week we have jumped straight into our learning across all curriculum areas. In Literacy, Foundation students have continued learning new letters and sounds and are becoming increasingly confident reading and writing simple words. Our Year 1 students have been extending their phonics knowledge and developing their understanding of new spelling patterns, while our Year 2 students have continued building their comprehension, grammar, and writing skills.

In Mathematics, Foundation students have been developing their early number knowledge, while our Year 1 and 2 students have begun exploring new addition and subtraction concepts through a range of hands-on learning experiences.

We have also begun our new Science unit, exploring how objects move. Students have enjoyed making observations, predictions, and discussing how different objects move in different ways. It has been fantastic to see so much curiosity and enthusiasm during our investigations.

In Art, students have been exploring collage techniques by creating beautiful cockatoo artworks using torn paper. This activity encouraged students to develop their fine motor skills, creativity, and perseverance as they carefully selected colours and arranged each piece to create their own unique artwork. We are so proud of the wonderful artworks they have created!

Reminders:

Readers are to be returned every Monday morning so they can be checked and sent home again that afternoon. Thank you for your continued support with home reading, it makes a big difference to your child's confidence and progress.

Sport lessons are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students are welcome to wear their sports uniform on these days.
