Year 2 News

As a Catholic Learning Community, this week in Grade 2, we explored National Reconciliation Week through the parable of the Good Samaritan. We discussed how the Samaritan showed kindness to someone different from him, even though they were seen as enemies. The children reflected on what it means to be a good neighbour: noticing when someone needs help and showing compassion to others, connecting this to Reconciliation Week's message of respect and understanding.
As Mathematicians, we have been continuing our learning about measurement and have been focusing on mass. We have been using our balancing scales and different informal units to measure, order and compare the mass of different objects.
As writers, we have been continuing working on persuasive writing, focusing on editing our pieces using our checklist. We have been reviewing our work for punctuation, persuasive language, paragraph structure, and convincing arguments. Editing is an important step in the writing process, helping us strengthen our ideas and make our writing clearer and more powerful for our readers.
This week, we will be learning about…
- Numeracy: Measurement - Capacity
- Literacy: Persuasive Texts
- Spelling: The trigraph /igh/ making the sound "I" as in light.
- Inquiry: Personal Strengths
- Religion: The Eucharist
- TRP: Noticing and Naming Emotions
Have a great week!
