Intermediate Basketball and Table Tennis
The Intermediate Basketball and Table Tennis Interschool competition was a tremendous success for Warrandyte High School's Year 9 and 10 students! A total of 55 students participated, forming 3 table tennis teams and 5 basketball teams. Each group demonstrated exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship. A special thanks to those who took on scoring and coaching roles, contributing significantly to the team's efforts.
Year 8 Interschool Basketball and Hockey
Our Year 8 students had an incredible day out at the recent interschool Hockey and Basketball competitions.
In Basketball, our boys’ team, despite having only four players, delivered impressive performances, winning all their games except for the grand final with an average margin of 25+ points. Although fatigue caught up with them in the final, they played their hearts out, competing in four consecutive 30-minute games with hardly any breaks. Their sportsmanship was commendable, as they encouraged their opponents when they needed it most—a true display of our school values.
The girls’ team was equally outstanding, also winning all their games except the grand final. Their energy, competitiveness, and teamwork were on full display, with Charlotte and Sarah leading the way, coaching, managing substitutions and keeping the team motivated. A standout moment of the day was when the girls turned a 3-9 deficit into a 26-0 scoring run in the second half, thanks to their remarkable defensive efforts—a performance any NBA or WNBA coach would applaud!
In Hockey, our team went undefeated and despite only being able to field 9 players, under the amazing captaincy and leadership of Adam Kamphius all students commitment, perseverance, and teamwork was inspiring to watch and shone through. We wish them the best of luck in the upcoming regional finals.
A special shoutout to Jack Brenan and Archie Wood from Year 10, and Ben Todero and Jayden Lynch from Year 11, who officiated as umpires throughout the day. Their professionalism and embodiment of school values were evident in every game.
Well done to all students for their amazing efforts!
Divisional Athletics
Congratulations to all the students who represented Warrandyte High School at the recent Division Athletics event. Our athletes put on an outstanding display of talent and determination, with many students bringing home ribbons in various events and breaking previous records.
We are proud to announce that 6 of our students (Arabella Bailey, Grace Celentane, Jacob Close, Ashley Denny, Oli Oldfield and Sierra West) have successfully progressed to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Championships, including the Girls 14-year-old 4x100m relay team, who delivered a fantastic performance.
A special mention goes to our Year 12 students who participated in their final sporting event for the school. Your dedication and leadership have been an inspiration to the entire school community, and we wish you all the best as you move on to new opportunities.
Well done to all involved, and good luck to our students competing in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Championships!
