International Student Program

Temporary study but great experience

Our international student program recently hosted seven students from various cities in China for a temporary summer stay, ranging from four to six weeks. To kick off their visit, we organized a morning tea for the students and their parents, followed by a tour of our beautiful campus and an introduction to our curriculum. They were particularly intrigued by our unique subjects, such as cooking, a variety of sports, and outdoor trails, which differ significantly from what they are used to in China.

To commemorate their time with us, we presented each student with a certificate of attendance and a souvenir USB. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing that their experience was both rich and rewarding. Notably, several students are now considering Australia as a future study destination.

Here are some kind comments from the students:

-“The teachers are very nice and helpful.”

-“I feel the atmosphere in the classroom is relaxing, which is very different from China.”

-“I love the school environment with a lot of trees and the canteen is great.”

-“Teachers and students here speak real English.”

Our school also gained valuable benefits from this experience. It showcased our high-quality education to an international audience and helped attract potential future students. Additionally, our local students had the opportunity to engage with diverse cultures and languages. A big thank you to all the staff involved, and we look forward to welcoming more international visitors next year.

Bilingual Story Book Reading

We took a wonderful initiative for promoting multiculturalism and community integration by including our international students in the Book Week. It was great to hear that Michaela from Year 7 and Nathan from Year 9 to bilingual storybook reading in both Mandarin and English. Introducing students to new languages and cultures through storytelling is a powerful way to foster understanding and appreciation.Sasvidu from Year 9 taught his mother tongue- Sinhala in pronunciation and character writing further enriched the experience. Such activities not only helped students learn about different cultures but also encouraged them to engage in and respect diversity. The event was successful and provided valuable educational and social experiences for everyone involved.
