Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful Athletics Day on Monday, with students enthusiastically participating in a range of events and demonstrating great teamwork and school spirit. It was fantastic to see everyone giving their best effort and supporting one another. Our swimming program began this week, and we look forward to students continuing to build their confidence and skills in the water. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Religious Education

This week in Year 4 Religious Education, students have been learning about the symbols and colours of Holy Week. They have been identifying the specific colours and symbols associated with each day and exploring their significance in helping us understand the events of Holy Week.

English

This week in Mathematics, students have been learning to multiply larger numbers by a single digit using concrete materials. They have been using base-10 blocks to support their understanding when multiplying three- and four-digit numbers, helping them build confidence with place value and the multiplication process.

Integrated Studies

This week in Integrated Studies, students have been sharing their inquiry projects and reflecting on why places are important. They have been presenting information about a place of significance, explaining why it matters and discussing how it can be cared for. Students have shown growing confidence in communicating their ideas clearly.

Social Emotional Learning

This week, students have been learning about Australia’s history from Aboriginal perspectives, including how the land was claimed as Terra Nullius. They have also explored the significance of a Welcome to Country, building their understanding of respect and the importance of acknowledging and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
