FAREWELL from Mrs Gulavin:

To the St Thomas the Apostle School Community,

As I prepare to conclude my time here after 6 years in servant leadership, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for the support, trust, and partnership we have shared during my time here.

It has been a true privilege to work within such a caring and committed community. Together, we have focused on ensuring that every child is known, respected, safe and supported at their identified point of need. This work has always been at the heart of what we do, and it has been an honour to walk alongside you in this journey.

The spirit of St Thomas has remained central to our work—the importance of curiosity, questioning, and seeking an encounter with Christ. These values continue to guide our students as learners and as people of faith, and it has been inspiring to witness their growth.

A guiding principle throughout my time here has been the words of Mary MacKillop: “Never see a need without doing something about it.” This mantra has shaped my approach to leadership and has been reflected in the collective efforts of our school community. I have seen this lived out daily—in classrooms, in the playground, and in the strong partnerships formed between home and school.

This same guiding principle is calling me to a new place in Gippsland where I have the opportunity to work with young people and their families through the work of St Joseph as an example of a faithful presence and responsibility. I am grateful for the experience that lies ahead and the continuation of the work I am so passionate about—working with young people and their families to create the conditions to reach their full potential.

I leave with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for St Thomas the Apostle primary school, which has shaped me both professionally and personally.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your story. I will carry the memories, relationships and connections from my time here always.

Kindest regards and God Bless,

Jen Gulavin - Deputy Principal (Inclusive Education)
