Year Twelve Formal 

Alice, Year 12, Ridgeway Campus  

Year 12 Formal was a huge success!! After lots of anticipation and buildup from dresses to dates, the big night finally arrived, and everyone had so much fun. It was nice to take a break from the thick of Year 12, to spend time with our peers and teachers and come together to celebrate our high school journeys. It was great to see everyone all dressed up, having a dance and making the most of the photo booth! The Senior Years Prefects also handed out awards, such as most likely to go to the Olympics and best dressed, which made for a fun change on the night. Thank you to all the staff and school leaders who made this night possible- we are very grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the Class of 2026, and our time at Ivanhoe!

Looking back on my Year 12 Formal experience feels like a fever dream. After what was one of the most stressful semesters yet, seeing everyone dressed in their Sunday best was a refreshing sight to see. 

Getting to celebrate our journey through high school thus far as a whole cohort was a phenomenal opportunity, reminding us of the time we have spent together over these last six years. Beyond the sore feet, a plethora of photos, and some delicious catering, what really stood out was watching everyone live in the moment, away from the screens and academic pressures. For one night, we all came together to make some core memories. It was a loud, fun, and heartwarming reset before we continue with this final stretch of our high school journey.

For me, the Year Twelve formal was an amazing experience which I will forever cherish. I was lucky enough to go with my friend Nickie as my formal partner and it was fun, quick process figuring out my outfit beforehand, but I’m not sure if I could say the same for her! Before the formal, I luxuriously rode a limousine with my friends for the first time, and I certainly felt more important than usual. As I entered the venue, it was a sight to behold seeing the whole year level dressed up in elaborate dresses and suits, and it gave the event such a special and thrilling atmosphere I’ve never experienced before. 

The dinner was delicious, so good in fact, that Nickie and I shared our different meals so that we could get the best of both worlds. The photobooth was a cool addition where I took photos with all my friends and teachers, giving me a chance to treasure this experience forever. Last but not least, my favourite part of the night: hitting that dance floor! I loved doing my horrible dance moves with my friends, and even though I probably looked silly doing it, I could say the same thing for my friends, especially Damien. Overall, the formal was a great night which defined Year 12 for me.
