The Lightning Thief

This year’s middle school production of The Lightning Thief was certainly a spectacle, bringing Greek mythology to life in a way that was unforgettable. It was an engaging musical regaling the tale of a boy, Percy Jackson (Sam Year 8), and his friends Annabeth (Harriet Year 8) and Grover (Max Year 8), and their journey to find and return Zeus’ lightning bolt back to Percy’s father, Poseidon (Grayson Year).  

It was truly engaging, including spectacular musical numbers such as “Poseidon Finally Shows Up” and “Bring on the Monsters." The bravery taken to get up on stage and share your skills with your peers is appreciated, and it was clear the talent on stage shone through. It was well produced, and the time and effort put in paid off.  

Consisting of a cast of Year 7s and 8s, it was truly admirable how the result turned out, no doubt due to the guidance and support of Mrs Kelly. Hopefully, we will see a return to the concept of middle-years musicals, as it was only introduced this year. Amazing effort, everyone!
