The Grade 1 students played long and short notes with a rest symbol using the Beet and Melon beats on the note middle C. They could select a tuned instrument or keyboards. What fun!
The Grade 3 students followed directions perfectly to perform a scarf dance to the music of 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' by the Russian composer, Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov. I loved seeing the students portray the small, quick movements of the bee's wings in flight!
Students have developed their music skills and are now playing 5 note melodies (middle C to G) with different note values and rests. We use fruit and vegetable beats to help us remember how long each note is worth.
The Grade 5 students have learnt how to play a melody with the notes in the C Major scale! This song is a clever one as each note is matched to a different language, 'Hello C,' 'Bonjour B,' 'Hola E,' etc. Using quarter, half and whole note values.
