Grade 2 News

Welcome back to Term 2!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Easter break. It has been lovely to see the students return with enthusiasm and readiness for a new term of learning.

This term in Reading, students will be focusing on making connections. They will practise connecting texts to their own experiences, other texts, and the world around them to deepen their understanding and engagement with what they read.

In Writing, our text focus will be The Stone Lion. Students will explore the story closely, using it as inspiration to develop their own writing skills, including sentence structure, vocabulary choices, and creative responses.

In Mathematics, we will be learning about Place Value. Students will build their understanding of numbers by exploring how digits represent different values and applying this knowledge in a range of problem-solving activities.

In Religion, we will be learning about Jesus’ Resurrection and its significance within the Easter story. Students will reflect on the message of hope, new life, and faith that Easter brings.

In Inquiry, our focus will be on Location, with a special focus on Australia. Students will investigate maps, places, and features of Australia while developing their understanding of where we live in relation to the wider world.

A big thank you to all our parents and families for supporting your child with their reading diary each day. Your help at home makes such a big difference in building confidence and developing a love of reading. We really appreciate your support in making reading part of their daily routine!

We look forward to a wonderful term of learning, growth, and discovery in Grade 2!
