Runners Brave the Elements at Gippsland Cross Country

Maffra Secondary students took on the cold temperatures at the recent Gippsland Cross Country, freezing wind and rain impacted race conditions. The standard of runners from across the region was incredibly high, with only top 10 place getters making it through to State in all year levels, meaning our students weren’t just fighting the weather; they were pushing their limits against Gippsland’s absolute best. Despite the shivering hands and soggy socks, the team spirit on display was unmatched. Our students didn't just endure the conditions; they embraced them! Watching our runners cross the finish line caked in mud, absolutely exhausted, with encouraging support from the side line. Every single student who stepped up to the starting line showed the kind of grit and determination that makes our school community so special. You all represented Maffra with true champion character. 

A huge congratulations to three students who have progressed through to the State Cross Country Championships:

• Bowen Slattery, finished 2nd
• Darcy Cater, finished 4th
• Lilly Horspool, finished 5th

Well done again to the whole team, we are very proud of your achievement making it through to Regionals and very please with all your efforts on day, a big thank you to Mr.Hon for attending the day and supporting students.
