Year 5/6

English
Over the last few weeks in English we have been publishing our persuasive pieces of writing. Students chose a topic and a contention and supported this with arguments and evidence. They then published their drafts on their Ipads. In the last couple of weeks we practiced our inferring skills with a different range of texts and images and found clues by the author to form an inference. We will undertake a short Reader's Theatre unit next week to build fluency and oral language skills.
Maths
In Maths we have been looking at data and graphing as part of our unit on Statistics. Students have been collecting and collating categorical and numerical data sets and graphing them in a variety of ways to demonstrate their understandings. We will continue to analyse and interpret different data sets and graphs next week and draw conclusions from the information.
Humanities
To finish up our Humanities unit, the students are sharing their information gathered about their chosen Asia- Pacific country. This includes information about their Economic status, Natural Resources and trade details, the Government and any other interesting facts they found along the way. The students have enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about our neighbouring countries!
Events and Reminders
We would like to congratulate all of our Year 5 students for being so resilient and determined during last week's NAPLAN testing. We were also so proud of all the students who participated in Cross Country at Eastern Park on Tuesday with a number of our students making it through to the next stage.
Next week we have our Girl's Football Team representing our school on Wednesday and we wish them all the best.
